Gerolstein is situated in the heart of the Eifel Region of Western Germany that boarders with the Rhine to the East, the Moselle to the South, the Ardennes (Belgian/Luxemburg Border) to the West and south of Aachen and Cologne to the north.
Its central location, in the mountainous Eifel region of Western Germany gives the visitor, easy access to the treasures within the 3 significant internationally recognised Eifel natural parks. The Eifel National Park to the north-east, the Eifel Nature Park and Reserve to the South West and the Vulkaneifel Geopark, to the East.
This central location , together with its excellent rail links and easy access to the motorway networks, ensures that all places of interest within the Eifel region can be reached within a little over an hour ‘s drive regardless of terrain.
Cologne on the Rhine to the North and Trier to the South on the Moselle can also be reached in an hour by train.
For "Days Out" it is within a little over an hour’s drive to any town or village on the 180 km stretch of the Rhine and Moselle rivers between Cologne, Koblenz and Trier.
The volcanic crater lakes, the blue eyes of the Eifel, are less than 30 minutes drive.
Gerolstein is also only a little over one hours drive to several Airports offering low cost flights, including the Ryanair terminal of Frankfurt Hahn. It is around a 4 hour drive from Calais and a little over 3 hours from Zeebrugge.
